Financial crisis. Layoffs. Uncertainty about the future. On an optimistic note, all of those are just the right reasons to start blogging today, right now on Saturday morning.
I don’t mean blogging for money, it’s a whole other story. Any kind of blog will do you nothing but good. Personal, tech or even a music blog – anything goes. Twitter isn’t enough in this case.
When asked why I blog, these are the top six reasons I give. All of them apply to virtually everyone. So here we go:
Get noticed. Have you ever googled yourself only to find out your web presence sums up to a MySpace page and a couple of talkbacks in Wall Street Journal? If this is the case, it is time to get online and start building your blog.
People will read what you have to say. You will be easy to find and, eventually, you will get noticed. Just keep in mind that Google never forgets when writing any kind of blog.
Meet new people. You readers are your friends. Whoever they are – annoying or helpful, whether they make you mad or happy. They are your audience, so get out there and find some readers!
Meeting new people never hurt anyone (unless they are, you know, bad guys). Actually, I got my (previous) job at Microsoft thanks to one of my readers at my Hebrew blog.
