It is no secret that most PC users don’t backup their data regularly. After all, hard drive crashes, power outages or floods will never happen to them. Or so they believe.

That being said, this post will provide you with five simple, yet powerful tools to back up your online life. By “online life” I mean your email, online documents, tweets, Facebook profile and essentially everything that defines your online presence.

Gmail – Starting January, Gmail allows offline access to your email. Basically it means that your email messages can be stored on your PC . Next time Gmail is unavailable, you can still access your data.

Google Docs – Easier than ever. Just click on “Offline” shortcut on the top menu and keep a local copy of your documents.

Twitter – Backup your tweets, followers, DMs and @replies easily with Tweetake.

5 Free Tools That Will Make Your Life Easier

Everyone I know just loves simple, yet powerful tools that make your daily online tasks easier. Here are five of them in no particular order.

Mozy Backup. Mozy provides remote (online) backup solutions and offers a free, 2Gb account for home users. Just install Mozy’s client on your PC, select desired folders to backup and you are done. I’ve been using their service (the free version) for almost a year now. No complaints there.

PDFCreator. As you would probably have guessed, this utility will convert any printable document to Adobe PDF format for free and without any nag screens. PDFCreator installs itself as a simple printer driver and offers a wide range of customization options, including auto-save, auto naming and many many other options.
