Pingdom, a popular site-monitoring service is now offering free accounts. A free account allows you to monitor one website only, while paid accounts offer 5 to 30 checks for $10 to $40 a month respectively.

As a bonus, free account also offers up to 20 SMS alerts. You’ll get those on your cell if your website is down. You can, of course, recharge the SMS credits for an additional charge.
