Does Windows have anti-virus software built into it?

The first question may be whether you need to do something. It's also true that Microsoft built Windows Defender into Windows 10 and that it should be protected by default.

If you need the minimum amount of antivirus you need, this is a great option. It doesn't have that many features and might not be a perfect fit with the best security packs, but it offers a surprisingly good level of protection and even beats paid antivirus programs.

Which antivirus should I use for Windows 10?

There are two main types of antivirus software, paid and free. Many of the big security brands like Avast, Bitdefender, and Kaspersky offer free versions to tempt the garden, but the same as both the free and paid versions use the same core antivirus engine from malware.

This means protecting your computer from viruses, Trojans, email message attachments, and similar malware. It may not provide additional features such as dangerous website warnings and spyware protection.

In fact, switching to a paid premium version generally offers advanced features like protecting your webcam from snoopers, social media fraud alerts, password managers, and secure vaults. Data theft.

Of course, if you like the software and it's worth investing in additional features, you can try the free version first and then upgrade to a paid subscription.

How to install antivirus software on Windows:

It is no different from other programs and applications. First, make sure you have antivirus software installed (other than Windows Defender). Open the Settings app and click Applications. Check the list and uninstall the package as this can cause problems.

After the file is saved, double-click the name that appears in the bar at the bottom of the screen (while still using your browser) or go to the Downloads folder and double-click the file.

If you don't see it right away, click the Date column (it should be on the View menu at the top of the window in Advanced Mode) to sort the most recent files. Switch to the oldest (if it is the other way around, click the column again to change).

I'm using Avast here, but the process is pretty much the same for all antivirus programs.

Avast Antivirus is configured to automatically update when new virus definitions or new application versions become available. We strongly recommend that you enable these automatic updates. You can also perform a manual update or request permission before downloading the update.

Avast Antivirus uses a database of known virus definitions to identify malware and other threats on your PC. To manually check for and install virus definitions updates, do the following:

1.Right-click the Avast icon in the notification area of the Windows system tray and select Update ▸ Virus and Engine Definitions.

2.If Avast Antivirus doesn't check for updates automatically, click Check for Updates.
